Hermes Ahmadi

A barrel full of humour and a shower drain full of hair.

You’re in for a real laugh!

A special city walk with a comedian as your guide!

Hermes Ahmadi is an openly hairy stand-up comedian and a full-time immigrant. He comes from a dangerous place in the Middle East called Eindhoven – the Middle East of North Brabant, that is. He has since emigrated once again to the capital.

As a sociologist through and through, he finds nothing stranger than human behaviour, especially his own. Hermes performs in Dutch and English at comedy clubs and theatres across the country. In his first solo show, ‘U bevindt zich hier’, discover that Afghans and the Dutch aren’t actually all that different from one another in a number of ways.

Hermes’ Comedy Walk is clever, sharp and laced with a healthy dose of self-deprecating humour. In this way, despite Eindhoven’s remarkable architecture, he makes the Brabant city look like the most beautiful metropolis on earth.

About the artist

Hermes Ahmadi (1987) is a versatile figure on stage and a striking presence on the city streets. He started out in cabaret in 2018 and soon found himself in the finals of competitions such as the Leeuwarden Cabaret Festival and Puck’s Cabaret Talent. Since then, he has been touring the country as a cabaret artist and comedian, amassing a rich array of stories and material. With this, he took part in the Leiden Cabaret Festival in 2024 and reached the final of Cameretten! Hermes’s style is narrative, but he also goes for sharp and unexpected jokes, quirky characters and recognisable – and above all bizarre – topics, such as integration, climate change, Flixbus, frikandellen and Flitsmeister.

“An important story with an underlying critique of the system, delivered with self-deprecating humour and great jokes” – Jury, Leiden Cabaret Festival

“It’s incredibly skilful how he intersperses his socially conscious, powerful pieces with razor-sharp jokes” – Cameretten Jury

“Through jokes about the Efteling and the quirks of the Dutch language, Ahmadi sharply illustrates the bizarre situations you find yourself in when you have to integrate into Dutch society as a refugee” – de Volkskrant
