Our ‘Walking’ Comedians
Our comedians are, first and foremost, comedians who just happen to know the city like the back of their hand.
Get to know us
There would be no Comedy Walks without the comedians.
Every comedian has their own style, background and way of telling stories. One might tell absurd stories, whilst another might use sharp observations or interactive humour. As a result, no two Comedy Walks are ever the same.
What our comedians have in common is that they’ve all performed on Dutch comedy stages. Many of them regularly appear in comedy clubs, theatres and at festivals. During a Comedy Walk, they combine their comic talent with the stories, history and quirks of the city.
More than just a guided tour
Our comedians aren’t traditional city guides. They don’t give a history lesson or work through a list of facts.
Instead, they take you on a journey through the city from their own perspective. Expect extraordinary stories, unexpected insights, local anecdotes and, above all, plenty of humour. Along the way, you’ll discover places you might otherwise walk right past and hear stories you’re unlikely to find in a travel guide.
Our ‘Walking’ Comedians!
Jelle takes you to Utrecht’s hidden gems. His casual disregard for local customs ensures that you feel and behave like a local, even if you actually are one.
Maarten is a romantic in an age without romance. That’s why he’ll take you on a tour of The Hague – the ‘Hofstad’ (Court City), where courtesy is sometimes hard to find. He’ll show you the parts he loves and the parts he’s not so keen on.
Hermes’ comedy is clever, sharp and laced with a healthy dose of self-deprecation. Just like Amsterdam, Hermes has a rich but also bizarre and controversial past – something he loves to reminisce about.
Rachel is a blissfully happy British comedian – which is quite rare these days since Brexit. Her in-depth analysis of the Dutch education system will have you in tears – of laughter, that is.
Sign up as a comedian
Comedy Walks is growing. We operate in several Dutch cities and are always on the lookout for new talent.
Are you a comedian, cabaret artist, improviser or a natural storyteller? Then we’d love to hear from you. Experience with stand-up comedy is an advantage, but we consider it more important that you’re comfortable in front of a group, can improvise well and can draw people into a story.
We offer:
- A unique stage outside the theatre
- Support in developing a Comedy Walk
- A collective of comedians and creators
Fancy giving it a go? Get in touch with us and tell us a bit about yourself, your experience and the city where you’d like to take your audience.
New talent
Comedy Walks is an excellent platform for comedians to develop their craft.
The dynamics of a city centre differ enormously from those of a theatre. You’re performing in the open air, dealing with unexpected situations and constantly in direct contact with your audience. That calls for flexibility, the ability to improvise and strong audience interaction.
That’s precisely why a Comedy Walk is a valuable experience for both novice and experienced comedians. You’ll learn how to captivate a group in a variety of situations, whilst working on your timing, storytelling and interaction.
Various comedians who have regularly performed with Comedy Walks, such as Kor Hoebe, can be seen in theatres across the country.

Customer focus and service are top priorities for Laura. A lot of companies could learn a thing or two from that! So, my compliments to her
